Watch your words. They come back.

Tomorrow is when God connects the dots in my life and brings everything full circle. Tomorrow, I start working at the church doing web stuff.

I say full circle because a year ago I would have never accepted a technical job at the church. I didn’t leave my already technical job to do another technical job at the church. That was not my idea of full-time ministry.

A year ago I said no to the web job so that I could finish my final year of my internship. I didn’t realize it back then, but I sowed extremely strong seeds of dissatisfaction with working in a technical role at the church. So strong that I have people asking me a year later if I’m okay with a techie job at the church. Even people I hardly know have asked me. Whether I talked to them directly or not, people have found out somehow.

Knowing this makes me sad. It is not the attitude God desires. I’m sorry I conveyed that attitude so strongly. But praise God I’ve had the past year for God to develop the right attitude. Regardless of the role, full-time ministry is where God needs you. And right now I know the church needs a devoted web person. That’s me.

To everyone I’ve ever expressed a distaste for working at the church in a technical role, I’m sorry. To God, I’m sorry. Know that I am honored to be the web person at the church. It is where I will serve thankfully and with all my heart. I make no distinction between a technical role or a “ministry” role.

It is all for God and his kingdom.
